Counselling & Psychotherapy

Many of us experience emotional difficulties, thoughts and feelings that we may find hard to talk about with others. I provide a safe and confidential space where you can talk freely and explore any of the issues that may be affecting you.

I will listen without judgement or criticism and help reflect on how you respond to events and deal with relationships. I will also help you to explore the feelings you have about yourself and other people, making connections between the past and your present situation.

I can help with a range of issues including if you are:

  • experiencing depression, anxiety or panic attacks
  • feeling a lack of motivation or feeling stuck
  • feeling unable to cope or lack confidence
  • having relationship difficulties
  • experiencing any kind of loss or trauma
  • facing any kind of problem that is difficult to talk about
  • experiencing stress or problems with work

The psychoanalytic approach lends itself to explore difficulties arising from this with great care, attention and in depth. It can be difficult to grasp why we repeat patterns which are often damaging to our well being and lives; this approach starts from the perspective that our actions and behaviours are to a larger extent guided by unconscious factors. In the unique psychotherapeutic relationship, we can help to unravel the often tightly woven patterns from the past, making them known which, eventually releases their hold.

I work with people once per week at a minimum, the period of time can be reviewed at any stage. Dependent on individual needs, I am also able to work with people for 2-3 three times per week for longer periods of time.
